Meet the Hosts

Dan Goettel

Co-Host

Dan Goettel

Dan Goettel has spent half his life living all over the country and the other half in New York City, but one thing has never changed—his love of the guitar.

Over the years, Dan has worked in music stores, played in countless bands, and spent a good portion of his career in some of the world's premier recording studios as a professional voice-over artist. Through it all, guitars have remained a constant obsession.

Whether he's playing, collecting, buying, selling, or talking about guitars, amps, and pedals, Dan is always in his element. His collection continues to grow, leaving one important question unanswered: How many Stratocasters does one man really need? Closely followed by another: Is it wrong to own more than 100 guitar pedals...and only one pedalboard?

Dan has been fortunate to spend time with some incredibly talented guitarists, world-class technicians, builders, and industry insiders, and he loves sharing the stories, lessons, and laughs that come from those experiences.

He may not always get it right, but he's never in doubt.

Bigsby Shims

Co-Host

Bigsby Shims

Bigsby Shims has been chasing the perfect riff ever since Santa dropped a guitar under the tree when he was five years old. That one gift sparked a lifelong obsession with guitars, tone, gear, and the music that changed his life.

From earning a degree in music performance and sound recording to tearing up clubs across New York City, Bigsby has lived music from every angle. His career as an audio engineer and tech has put him behind the scenes at legendary venues like Madison Square Garden and iconic events including Woodstock '99, giving him a front-row seat to the artists, amps, and moments that make rock history.

Whether he's talking vintage guitars, boutique pedals, tube amps, recording tricks, or the stories behind the players, Bigsby brings decades of experience, unapologetic enthusiasm, and a relentless pursuit of killer tone. If it has six strings, glowing tubes, or goes to 11, he's all in.

What We're About

Guitar Gab isn't about being the loudest voice in the room — it's about being the most genuine. We talk about gear the way players actually talk about gear: with passion, humor, and the kind of honesty you only get from people who've actually played the stuff. Whether you're a weekend warrior or a working musician, there's something here for you.
